Financial training courses

Financial Training Associates' courses encompass Excel modelling, corporate and project finance, company valuation, as well as other related subject areas such as risk management, corporate credit analysis, private equity, loan restructuring and energy risk management. Our programs regularly get great course feedback from training delegates.

Financial modelling course training

Our financial training courses are all “hands on”.  On our modelling courses delegates are provided with the opportunity to create their own cash flow forecast in Excel as part of building a complete and integrated model of financial statements.  For further detail, please see Financial Training Associates' list of modelling courses.

Advanced financial modelling

Our advanced financial modelling course programs allow participants to improve the reliability and quality of their models. The programs are designed for users with some prior experience of financial modelling in Excel, and show course delegates how to build superior models using tried and tested methods, applying Excel shortcuts and tricks.

Project finance course training

Our project finance training courses encompass topics such as project risk and allocation, key performance indicators, major areas of negotiation, key contractual issues, due diligence, documentation, the impact and role of financing structures, as well as Excel modelling for project finance.

Corporate finance course training

Our corporate finance training programs focus on the application of financing strategies and to real life problems.  Although grounded in financial theory, the emphasis here is on “workshop style” teaching with pragmatic application to real life situations.

Valuation course training

Our valuation course training is conducted in a workshop format where delegates work to value a company of their choice, using DCF and comparable/ relative multiples. The training courses provide delegates with a comprehensive review of company valuation, principal techniques and their inter-relationships. Just like they might have to in their jobs, delegates start just with a set of publicly available accounts for the company they are interested in, and conduct real valuation work for that business.

Merger & acquisition modelling

Financial Training Associates' merger & acquisition course training program includes M&A processes, modelling, accounting treatments, deal structuring, financing and key risks.

LBO modelling

Our LBO course training program asks delegates to analyse real transactions, consider how deals work, and how we can approach the business of modelling cash flows, private equity returns and covenant tests.

Credit risk course training

Financial Training Associates' credit risk course program helps delegates learn how to analyse corporate credit risk and assess likely return.  Our courses set out a comprehensive credit analysis framework, exploring effective risk mitigation and control.

Real estate finance courses

Our real estate finance course program comprehensively covers technical issues in property financing, modelling, investment, development and performance measurement.

Energy course training

Financial Training Asssociates' energy risk training courses encompass the application of derivative instruments such as options, forwards, futures and swaps, modelling company valuation, trading and the application of financial products in the commodities markets.

Risk management training courses

Risk management is not just a mechanism of control but a critical component of business strategy.   Our risk management course program includes discussion of past control failures, alternative approaches to credit risk management, industry standard operational risk measurement techniques together with the role of and pitfalls inherent in detailed risk modelling work.

Private equity course training

A private equity course from Financial Training Asssociates' explains how the industry works, unpacking recent controversies and challenges for principals.   As part of our training courses we explore how private equity firms structure their investments, how management teams benefit and how money is made.

Finance for non-financial  managers

On a finance for non-financial managers course, delegates are given the opportunity to understand and interpret company accounts.  What do the key line items really mean?  How do the accounts link together?  On these courses delegates bring a set of financial statements to class, review the statements with their class mates and the course tutor, and use company accounts to generate meaningful information right from the start of training.

Finance market training courses

Financial markets have been in a state of flux.  Who has been involved?  What have been the roles of key institutions?   Who has been winning?  Who has been losing?  A finance and banking market training course provides the opportunity to understand exactly what key financial institutions do, how they have made money in the past and how trends are moving right now.

Loan restructuring training courses

A Financial Training Associates' loan restructuring course equips delegates to identify companies that can be returned to viability, understand and evaluate loan work out and restructuring options, structure debt and repayment profiles, minimise risk, and analyse the implications for cash flow and ongoing returns.
